How can I upgrade the ChilliWRT firmware?

Preparation: Download the firmware image for your router model from our support website. To upgrade the firmware locally with a new firmware image you need to connect to your router and log on to it with user 'root' and your password (default password is 'shae-4' without apostrophes).

Once you are logged in go to 'System'->'Backup / Flash Firmware' (see image below).

VERY IMPORTANT: REMOVE THE TICK FROM THE 'Keep settings' CHECKBOX!

Then click on the 'Choose File' and select the firmware file you have downloaded from our support website. Then click on 'Flash image...'

The page will refresh and you need to confirm the upgrade by clicking the 'Proceed' button. The system will install the new firmware file and reboot.

Troubleshooting:

If you get the message "The uploaded image file does not contain a supported format. Make sure that you choose the generic image format for your platform." you have chosen the wrong firmware file. Make sure you have picked the exact file for your router model and hardware version and that you have picked the upgrade version, not the file for the initial install.
